BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Brian Nicolas recorded a pair of hits while
Jordan Hamberg recorded a double with two walks as Coppin State's baseball team fell at Lehigh, 12-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Walker Field. The Eagles fall to 3-9 while the Hawks improve to 7-4.
Coppin took an early lead with a run in the top of the first as
Sebastien Sarabia doubled in Hamberg with a shot down the rightfield line.
Lehigh took its first lead of the game with two runs in the second before tacking on one in the third, three in the fourth and six in the fifth to extend the advantage to 12-1.
Nico Felber held Lehigh scoreless in the sixth, as did
Tyler Nichol in the seventh and
Rashad Ruff in the eighth.
The Eagles were in line for a big inning in the eighth, scoring a run with a bases-loaded walk issued to
Bruce Hilton, but a relief pitcher got the final two outs of the frame.
Giovanni Canales got the start on the mound and allowed three runs in the first 3.0 innings while striking out three.
Juan Pablo Hernandez gave up three runs as well, while
Tim Ruffino was charged with just one earned run in 1.1 innings.
Clay Thompson was charged with two earned runs as well.
