Women's Tennis Drops to Delaware State on the Road

Dover, D.E: With 15 games won at first singles and multiple wins in doubles play, women's tennis lost to Delaware State on Monday, March 27th for a final score 7-0. The Eagles are now 0-4 in conference play, while Delaware State advances to 2-1 in the MEAC.  

Hana Elsherif led the team at first singles for a three-set match against Au-Yeung. After a 6-1 defeat in the first set, Elsherif made a comeback in set two for a 6-4 victory. Elsherif stated "I changed my game plan in the second set. I missed a lot of points in the first set. I found a way to control my game in the second set by focusing on my first serve and eliminating unforced errors". Despite eight games won in the tiebreaker, she dropped the set 10-8.  

Kenyange Kaounde grabbed a pair of wins per set at fifth singles against Corte. Megan Etienne strung three wins in a two-set loss against Lui.  Emperess Johnson tallied two wins in the first set at sixth singles before the match was deemed unfinished.    
Indy Ampaw saw action at third singles against Daria Julia, which was retired in the second set.  Mackenzie Jones saw action fourth singles for a two-set loss against Lisovska.  

In doubles play, Jones and Kaounde partnered up at first doubles for a pair of wins against Lisovska and Julia for a 6-2 loss. Etienne and Johnson grabbed a win at second doubles for a 6-1 loss up against Lui and Deang. Ampaw and Elsherif paired two wins against Au-Yeung and Raja for a 6-2 loss at third doubles.   

Up Next: The Eagles will match up against Loyola on Thursday, March 30th  at Loyola Tennis Complex for a 3pm first serve.
