Volleyball's Program-Record Ten-Match Winning Streak Comes to an End at Howard

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coppin State's volleyball team's program-record ten-match winning streak ended as the Eagles dropped a 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-9) decision at Howard on Sunday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium. CSU still maintains a 1.5 game lead over the Bison at 22-4 overall and 11-1 in the MEAC while Howard improves to 14-13 on the year and 10-3 in league play.
 
Laila Ibrahim was credited with a team-high 13 kills on .385 swinging while matching Geraldyn Palacios with a team-high four blocks. Palacios ranked second on the squad with TaKenya Stafford with ten kills while hitting .409 as Stafford notched a double-double with a team-high 17 digs.
 
Paola Caten added seven kills, followed by Andrea Tsvetanova with three, Hope Casel and Divine Muo with two, and Andrea Serrano with one.  Tsvetanova had 31 assists and 12 digs for a double-double as well. Caten, Tsvetanova and Casel all had three blocks apiece. Tsvetanova also had a pair of aces.
 
In the back row, Ashley Roman had 15 digs while both Serrano and Coco Figueroa added 13. Figueroa and Genesis Hernandez had an ace each.
 
Up Next: Coppin will look to clinch the MEAC Regular Season Title outright with back-to-back matches against Morgan State, starting with a trip across town on Wednesday, November 8 before Senior Night on Friday, November 10 at 7:00 pm.
