Double Digit Scoring Night for Winston in a Fall to Miami Ohio

Oxford, OH.- Despite a double digit scoring night for Justin Winston, and a season high for Camaren Sparrow, Coppin State men's basketball took a fall to Miami Ohio on Friday night with a score of 76-48. The Eagles are now 0-5 for the season.  

 
 Inside the Numbers 

  • Winston lead the team with 12 points, while one rebound shy of a double-double with a game high nine boards.   

  • Greg Spurlock was the second leading scorer with nine points consisting of four field-goals, and two steals.    

  • Sparrow put up a season high seven points, shooting three of five from the field. 

  • Preist Ryan finished with six points and pulled down six rebounds.  

  • Aa'Reyon Jones led all players with three steals, and chipped in four points, along with Ryan Archey and Toto Fagbenle

  • The Eagles outnumbered Miami Ohio in offensive rebounds (11-7) and steals (9-8).  

How it Happened 

  • The Eagles started the game off on an early 4-0 run. 

  • Spurlock scored six straight points for Coppin within the first five minutes to take an 8-5 lead.  

  • After a tie at 13, the Redhawks found spark and went on an 8-2 run before Winston responded with a bucket in the paint. 

  •  The Redhawks went on a 9-0 run to bring a double digit lead.  

  • Coppin trailed 40-20 going into the second half.  

  • Sparrow opened the second half putting up six points for the Eagles.
