Durham, N.C.- Coppin State Women's Volleyball team defeated North Carolina Central in five sets on Sunday, October 1st to extend a five game win streak on the road. CSU remains undefeated in conference play (4-0) while NCCU drops to 1-4.
TaKenya Stafford posted a career high in both kills and digs, finishing with 27 kills and 23 digs. Stafford is the second player in CSU history to record a double double with over 20 plus kills and digs. Andrea Tsvetanova recorded a season high 59 assists and led the team with three aces. Ashley Roman had a season high 30 digs paired with five assists. Coco Figueroa finished with a career high 17 digs with two assists. Paola Caten and Hope Casel had a season high 13 kills and three blocks a piece. Geraldyn Palacios finished in double digits with 10 kills and three blocks. Laila Ibrahim led all players with five blocks and chipped in five kills.

CSU Eagles opened the set with a 5-1 run.

After trailing NCCU 17-14, Coppin went on a 4-0 run with two kills from Palacios.

Caten and Stafford pulled away with a 3-0 run to win the set 28-26.

Caten and Casel led the set with four kills a piece.

CSU took a 10-9 lead with 3-0 run from Palacios and Caten.

Coppin had a 23-20 lead before NCCU embarked a 3-0 run.

After a 24 point tie, Casel hit two straight kills off Tsvetanova's assists for a 26-24 set win.

NCCU went on a 5-1 run to start the set.

Palacios sparked a 4-0 Coppin run with a block and two kills.

CSU trailed 23-15, but made a comeback with a 7-0 run to trail by one (23-22).

Tsvetanova had three aces and assisted Stafford with two kills in the duration of the 7-0 run.

NCCU's Kamren Harper scored two kills to help NCCU close the set 25-23.

Stafford opened the set with three straight kills.

CSU went on a quick 6-0 run to turn a 6-5 lead to 12-5.

Stafford counted for seven of the teams nine kills in the fifth set.

Coppin dominated the set 15-7 victory.
