Volleyball Wins a Pair of Matches to Mark a Three Game Win Streak

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Coppin State's volleyball won a pair of matches against Alabama A&M and Alcorn State after beating Alabama State this weekend at the ISTAP HBCU Invitational.  The Eagles are now on a three game win streak and advance to 5-6 on the season.

Inside the Numbers 

 
 

  • Ammaarah Williams led the way with a double double, 13 kills and ten digs. 
     
     

  • Andrea Tsvetanova led all players with five aces and 23 assists.  
     
     

  • Ashley Roman tallied 15 digs and an ace.  
     
     

  • Miajavon Coleman finished with eight kills, ten digs and a block.  
     
     

  • Geraldyn Palacios led all players with three blocks and chipped in five kills. 
     
     

  • Hope Casel also had five kills along with two blocks. 
     
     

  •  Ahzhi Coleman contributed two blocks and hit a .667 for four kills. 
     
     

  • Yaniris Miller-Green went for a perfect three kills off of three attempts as well as an ace and a block.

  • After trailing at the start of the first set, Coppin went on an 8-0 run to reverse the lead. 
     
     

  • A. Coleman and Williams had three kills each in the set 
     
     

  • The Eagles won the set 25-20 
     

Second Set: 
 

  • Coppin went on a pair of 4-0 runs in the set 
     
     

  • Williams led the first run with a pair of kills 
     
     

  • Casel scored back to back kills to extend a seven point lead

Third Set: 

  • Tsvetanova started the third set of with an ace, as she finished had four aces alone in the set.

  • Tsvetanova brought a double digit lead with a pair of aces in back to back plays.

First Set 

  • Tsvetanova started the set scoring two straight aces. 
      
     

  • Yaniris Miller-Green scored a kill for a ten point advantage. 
     
     

  • Coppin won the first set 25-14. 

Second Set 
 

 

  • Casel sparked a 3-0 run, which was maintained by a pair of aces from Tsvetanova. 
     
     
     

  • Theut scored a pair of consecutive aces in a 4-0 run with back to back kills from Casel and A. Coleman. 
     
     

  • Tsvetanova had two kills in the following 4-0 run.  
     
     

  • A pair of kills by Roman and Williams closed the set 25-17. 
     
     

Third Set 
 

  • Coppin went on a 7-0 run in the middle of the set which consisted of four kills from M. Coleman who had 5 kills in the set. 
     
     

  • Eagles won the third 25-17.
