TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's softball team dropped a pair of games in the final day of the Demarini Tiger Clash on Sunday afternoon, falling to Columbia, 10-3, and Towson, 10-2.
Eight different Eagles had base hits against Columbia with
Alexis Genovese,
Vanessa Carrizosa and
Makayla Caballero recording doubles. Carrizosa also drew a walk to reach base safely twice on the day while also striking out three in her five innings of work in the circle.
The Lions got out to a 5-0 lead with two runs in the first and three in the third before Coppin cut the deficit with three runs in its half of the third. Caballero led off the inning with a double to the gap in left center and scored when Carrizosa doubled as well. Following a single by

Isabella Zalba went opposite field for a two-run single to make it a 5-3 game.
Columbia got one of the runs back in the fourth, and following a scoreless fifth, tallied three in the sixth and one more in the seventh.
In the nightcap against the host Tigers,
Alexis Genovese, Zalba,
Shawnee Ronyak and
Brooke Caballero recorded base knocks while Alvarado and
Melanie Aguilera drew walks. Ronyak received the loss on the mound as she split time with
Kayleigh Reome.
Coppin's runs came in the third with an RBI groundout by Alvarado, and a groundout by Genovese in the fourth.
The Eagles will travel to play George Mason on Wednesday, March 9 for a 2 pm doubleheader.
