AMBLER, Pa. – Sergiu Medesan recorded a win in singles play as the Coppin State men's tennis team dropped its season opener at Saint Joseph's, 6-1 on Saturday night at Upper Dublin Sports Center.
Medesan won his No. 2 singles flight in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 over Eshan Kanetkar in the Eagles' lone victory on the night. The duo also faced off in the first doubles spot with the Hawks defeating Medesan and freshman Vansh Kapoor, 6-4.
Michael Michael and Henrique Sada dropped their doubles match at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4, as Saint Joseph's earned the doubles point heading into singles play.
Michael put up a great fight in the fourth doubles spot, dropping the first set, 7-5, but lost the second set, 6-2.
Making his collegiate debut, Kapoor won a pair of games in each set in his defeat at No. 3 singles.
Coppin State returns to the court on Saturday, February 20 at Lafayette.
