PHILDELPHIA – Tyree Corbett led all scorers Tuesday night as the Coppin State men's basketball team fell to Drexel 76-69 inside Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Eagles move to 1-14, while Drexel improves to 5-5 and leads the all-time series 3-0.
The MEAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, Corbett lead the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Kyle Cardaci dished in 17 points and
Nendah Tarke scored nine with six rebounds.
Daniel Titus tallied six points on the evening.
The Dragons opened the game scoring 14 points before the Eagles flew back in on points from Corbett, Tarke and Cardiac to bring the Eagles within four with 15:42 remaining in the half. Drexel went on another scoring run, but the Eagles stayed within five (26-21) with 6:51 left. Back-and-forth points were exchanged before Drexel closed out the half leading by six.
The Eagles opened the second half with eight straight points and a three by Cardaci helped the Eagles take their first lead of the game with 18:11 left to play. The fight than begin after four ties took place in the half.
Coppin had a one-point lead (69-68) with 3:06 to play after a made free-throw from Corbett. Drexel closed the game scoring the final eight points to seal the victory.
The Eagles will travel to Fairfax, Virginia to play George Mason on December 23. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
