Women’s Hoops Falls at Crosstown Rival Morgan State

BALTIMORE – Coppin State's women's basketball team fell to Morgan State, 68-42 on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.  The Eagles now stand at 3-24 overall and 3-12 in MEAC play entering their regular season finale.

Inside the Numbers
  • Oluwadamilola Oloyede led Coppin State in scoring with 12 points while making all six of her shots.  Oloyede also grabbed four rebounds, one off a team-high held by Aliyah Lawson, E'Mya Price and Jalynda Salley.
  • Chance Graham added nine points with four rebounds and Lawson tallied eight points, and matched Alexandria Hamilton's three assists.  Tyree Allen chipped in offensively with six points.
  • Morgan State outshot Coppin State, 41.0% to 29.1% and turned 19 Eagles turnovers into 19 points and 16 fast-break points.
  • Dahnye Redd led the bears with 18 points and nine rebounds.
How it Happened
  • Morgan State opened the game with a three, but Aliyah Lawson matched it with one of her own at the 8:59 mark.
  • The Bears then scored the next eight points before Chance Graham converted on a three-point play to pull within five points.
  • Following six-straight points by MSU, Oluwadamilola Oloyede and Graham hit layups to close the period down, 17-10.
  • Morgan opened the second quarter on an 11-0 run to open a 28-10 lead but the Eagles once again scored the final points of the period with buckets from Alexandria Hamilton and E'Mya Price.
  • Lawson opened the second half with a three-point play to pull CSU to within 28-17 with 8:48 left in the third quarter but that was as close as the Eagles got the remainder of the game as Morgan extended its lead to as many as 23 points during the quarter.  The final score was the largest margin of the game.
Up Next: Coppin closes out the regular season with a trip to Maryland Eastern Shore at 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 5.
