How it Happened
  • Coppin scored the first four points of the game as Chance Graham hit a pair of free throws, followed by a jumper from Aliyah Lawson.
  • Delaware State tied it up 4-4 and the lead changed five times the rest of the period as the Eagles led, 12-11 after the first quarter.
  • The Hornets opened the second quarter on an 8-2 run to open a 19-14 lead and CSU kept it at a five-point deficit on baskets by Alexandria Hamilton and Graham. Graham answered a pair of Hornets free throws and after a DSU three, Abby Weiss hit a three from the corner.
  • After the teams traded threes once again, Lawson hit a pair of free throws to make it a 33-28 score at the half.
  • CSU pulled to within 33-31 out of the break as Graham hit a free throw and Jalynda Salley sunk a layup but Delaware State answered with eight-straight points to extend its advantage into double digits.
  • Coppin was able to get the deficit back to eight points, but a 7-0 Hornets run to end the quarter gave the hosts a 51-36 advantage going into the final quarter.
  • CSU played nearly even with DSU in the fourth quarter but were unable to dig into the deficit.  The Eagles played very aggressively, getting to the line 14 times in the final ten minutes but made just seven of those 14 from the stripe.
