Men’s Basketball Unable to Make Run at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Coppin State's men's basketball team shot just 25 percent from the floor in the second half as it fell at Drexel, 69-54 on Sunday afternoon at Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Koby Thomas returned to his hometown and finished with a season and team-high 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  Anthony Tarke was the only other Eagles player in double figures with 11 points while leading CSU with eight rebounds.

DeJuan Clayton kept moving up the Coppin scoring charts as he tallied nine points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals.  He passed CSU Hall of Famer Joe Pace for ninth on the school's all-time list and now has 1,321 career points.

Also chipping in for the Eagles was Kyle Cardaci with a career-high eight points while Domantas Sakickas scored six points in his first career start.

The Eagles once again started strong with a 6-0 run to open the game and maintained a lead until midway through the half when Drexel's Camren Wynter drained a three to give the Dragons a 18-16 advantage with 9:30 left.

Drexel was able to extend its lead to as many as nine the remainder of the half and Coppin was not able to get any closer than eight points in the second period.

Wynter led Drexel with 15 points as five Dragons finished in double figures.
