BALTIMORE – Coppin State's
Brendan Medley-Bacon pulled down a NCAA season-high and school-record (NCAA-era) 24 rebounds but Morgan State hit a deep three with three seconds left to defeat the Eagles, 50-48 on Saturday afternoon at PEC Arena.
Inside the Numbers
- Brendan Medley-Bacon's 24 rebounds matched George Washington's Arnaldo Toro and Hasahn French of Saint Louis for the most in a single-game in NCAA Division I this season. This broke former NBA player Larry Stewart's old school-record (NCAA-era only) of 21 rebounds which he recorded twice in his Eagles career. The all-time Coppin record is 32 rebounds, set by Joe Pace against Federal City on February 12, 1976. This is the fourth-most rebounds by a CSU player in school-history.
- Medley-Bacon, the reigning MEAC Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week, also finished with eight points, three blocks, two assists and a steal. Seven of his 24 rebounds were on the offensive end.
- Andrew Robinson led Coppin with 12 points on four 3-pointers to go with seven rebounds while Dejuan Clayton added eight Koby Thomas chipped in with eight. Clayton also had six rebounds, three assists and five steals.
- Both teams shot poorly, with Morgan holding a slim 29.2% to 27.3% advantage. Coppin outrebounded Morgan, 57-46 but made just 6-of-15 free throws. The Bears made just 6-of-12 shots from the line.
- Stanley Davis had a double-double 13 points and ten rebounds to lead Morgan State.

- The Bears stopped the bleeding with five-straight points, but Robinson hit a pair of threes in a three-minute stretch to give Coppin its largest lead of 21-7 with 5:37 left in the half.
- Morgan was able to pull to within eight points until Reggie James tipped in a missed layup by Clayton just before the buzzer, giving the Eagles a 28-18 halftime lead.

- Following a timeout, Sherwyn Devonish buried a deep three with just under three seconds to play off a pass from David Syfax.
- Clayton drained a last-second heave about three-quarters of the length of the court, but officials waived it off as late, confirming the call after a short review.
