Women’s Hoops Snake-Bitten at Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Coppin State's women's basketball team shot 27.1% from the field and made just 13-of-23 free throws in a 58-48 MEAC loss at Florida A&M on Monday night at Al Lawson Center.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Chance Graham picked up her sixth double-double of the season, leading all players with 13 points and 12 rebounds to go with a pair of steals.
  • Alexandria Hamilton also finished in double figures with 12 points while both Tyree Allen and Jalynda Salley chipped in with six points apiece.  Salley also had five rebounds and two blocks.
  • Oluwadamilola Oloyede pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds
  • Three Rattlers finished in double figures as Florida A&M shot 32.2% from the floor and made 16-of-29 free throws.
How it Happened
  • The teams played even in the first period, but Florida A&M scored the first seven points of the second period to gain an advantage.
  • Baskets by Tyree Allen and Aliyah Lawson cut the deficit to three point, but the Rattlers held off the Eagles, went on a 13-1 run and led 32-18 at the half.
  • Trading baskets early in the third, the Eagles made a game of it with a 16-1 run to pull within 37-36 with 3:45 left in the frame. Chance Graham scored half of the team's points during the stretch which was capped off by a three by Marley Grenway.
  • Florida A&M closed the stanza on a 8-2 run and led 45-38 going into the final quarter.
  • With 2:28 left in regulation, Allen hit a layup to finish a 6-0 run to make the score 50-48 in favor of the hosts but the Rattlers closed it out with the game's final eight points. CSU missed both of its field goals and free throws in the closing minutes and turned it over twice.
