Jalynda Salley Records Double-Double in Women’s Hoops’ Loss at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Coppin State's Jalynda Salley recorded a double-double ten points and a career-high 15 rebounds in a 94-41 loss at South Dakota State University on Thursday night at Frost Arena.

Inside the Numbers
  • Jalynda Salley made 5-of-9 shots to finish with a team-high ten points.  Her 15 rebounds one-upper her previous career-high which was set earlier this season at Marshall on November 19.
  • Marley Grenway matched her season-high with nine points on three 3-pointers while Alexandria Hamilton returned to the lineup and added six points.  Hamilton and Aliyah Lawson also dished out a pair of assists.
  • Lawson, Tyree Allen, Oluwadamilola Oloyede and Chance Graham all had four points apiece with Oloyede blocking a pair of shots and grabbing five rebounds.
  • South Dakota State put four Jackrabbits in double figures, led by Tori Nelson's 23 points  SDSU outshot CSU, 46.2% to 34.0% and outrebounded the Eagles, 54-28.
How it Happened
  • South Dakota State, who advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last season, took the early lead with a free throw as Coppin received a technical foul before the opening tip.
  • The Jackrabbits scored the first five points of the game before Oluwadamilola Oloyede put the Eagles on the board with a layup at the 8:23 mark off a pass from Aliyah Lawson.
  • After a 6-0 run by SDSU, Jalynda Salley was fed by Chance Graham for a layup with 5:24 to play in the first. 
  • Coppin went cold the remainder of the period as the Jackrabbits went on a 17-0 run to close the period, outscoring CSU, 28-4.
  • SDSU scored the first five points of the second quarter before a three by Alexandria Hamilton and Marley Grenway just 42 seconds apart.  Grenway hit another three later in the stanza and CSU also got free throws by Hamilton and Lawson, going into the half trailing, 57-15.
  • The hosts outscored Coppin, 26-12 in the third, but Coppin outscored SDSU, 14-11 in the final period.
  • CSU started the session on a 7-0 run, starting with a layup by Graham, followed by a three by Grenway and a layup from Hamilton.
