How it Happened
- Niagara got out to a 4-0 lead until Aliyah Lawson buried a three at the 8:49 mark of the first quarter to cut the deficit to a single point.
- The Purple Eagles then went on a 9-0 run until Jalynda Salley hit a pair of layups to cut the lead to 13-7.
- Both teams traded baskets, but Niagara built the lead back to 22-11 before a layup by E'Mya Price made it a 22-13 score after the first.
- Coppin outscored Niagara in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to as little as five points on multiple occasions. The visitors hit the final hot of the period with a three with one-minute remaining to make it a 42-34 ballgame at the half.
- Niagara controlled much of the third quarter, outscoring CSU, 23-10 in the stanza and closing the frame on a 9-2 run to lead 65-44 going into the final quarter.
- After baskets by both teams to start the fourth, the trio of Alexandria Hamilton, Oluwadamilola Oloyede and Lawson got Coppin within striking distance. Hamilton converted on a three-point play and converted on another layup and assisted on three-straight CSU baskets to cut the deficit to 67-58 with 4:44 left to play.
