BALTIMORE – Cppin State's volleyball team suffered a disappointing, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-17) MEAC loss to crosstown rival Morgan State Friday night at PEC Arena.

First Set
- Coppin took its largest lead of the set at 10-7 following a kill from Miajavon Coleman and an ace by Salma Gonzalez, but Morgan fought back to tie the score at 11.
- Trailing, 14-13, the Bears went on a 3-0 run to go up 16-14 and force an Eagles timeout.
- Christa Johnson recorded a kill to cut the deficit in half, but every time CSU pulled to within a point, Morgan answered and never let Coppin tie the score.
- A pair of kills by Morgan sealed the win for the visitors at 25-21.
Second Set
- CSU got out to a 2-0 lead but Morgan responded with a 7-1 run to force a CSU timeout.
- The break did not stop the Bears' momentum as another 5-1 run prompted another timeout.
- Morgan kept it up and took the frame, 25-12.
Third Set
- Coppin held a 3-1 lead, but Morgan battled back quickly and took its first lead at 4-3 and used a 3-0 run to go up 11-7 and force a Coppin timeout.
- CSU got no closer the rest of the way as the Bears won, 25-17.
Inside the Numbers
- Miajavon Coleman had a team-high seven kills while Paola Caten added six with just one error to hit .238. Christa Johnson chipped in with four kills without an error to hit .444 and added a team-high three blocks.
- Salma Gonzalez also had three kills with zero errors to go with a pair of blocks.
- Brianna Lang assisted on 20 of CSU's 26 kills and Ashley Roman was credited with 11 digs.
- Coppin was outhit, .370 to .162.
