WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coppin State's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-14, 25-14, 22-25, 25-20) decision at Howard University in the MEAC Semifinals Saturday night at Burr Gymnasium. The Eagles' season comes to an end at 13-18 overall which is the second-most victories in a single season for Coppin.

Inside the Numbers
- Jordan Celestine led the Eagles with eight kills on 11 swings with zero errors to hit .727 for the match. Her three blocks were second on the team to Christa Johnson who blocked four attacks and had seven kills.
- Paola Caten added seven kills and seven digs and Miajavon Coleman chipped in with six kills. Coleman's 406 kills this year are the fifth most in CSU history.
- Sydney Hicks and Salma Gonzalez also had multiple kills and blocks apiece, and Brianna Lang was credited with 27 assists and eight digs. Lang also had one ace and finished with 54 on the season which is tied for the third-most in school history.
- Ashley Roman also had eight digs and set a school-record for digs in a single season with 477.
How it Happened
- Howard got out fast to take a 7-4 lead in the first set but Coppin battled back with four-straight points to take its first lead and force a timeout.
- The Bison responded out of the break with a 5-0 run and used a 9-0 run later in the frame to win the frame, 25-14.
- With the second set tied at 3-3, Howard scored six-straight to force a CSU timeout and the Eagles got no closer the rest of the way as the Bison took a commanding, 2-0 lead with another 25-14 victory.
- Coppin fell behind, 2-0 in the third, but a kill by Christa Johnson and a Brianna Lang ace helped the Eagles go up 4-2.
- After a Howard timeout, Salma Gonzalez teamed with Johnson for a block and then recorded a kill to put CSU up, 7-3.
- The Bison bounced back to within a point and tied the score eight times before going back up, 22-21 to force an Eagles timeout.
- Coppin closed out the third set on a 4-0 run with an ace by Paola Caten and kills from Gonzalez and Johnson.
- The fourth set stayed close early on but a 5-0 run by Howard gave the Bison a 15-11 lead.
- A 4-1 run by Coppin pulled it to within 16-15 and the Eagles tied it up at 18 and 19 before taking a 20-19 after a Howard setting error.
- The Bison then closed the match on a 6-0 run to win, 25-20 and take the match, 3-1.
