PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Coppin State's volleyball team swept Maryland Eastern Shore, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 27-25) on Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale to clinch a spot in the MEAC Tournament where they will enter as the No. 3 seed in the Northern Division.

How it Happened
- Trailing, 9-8 in the first set, Coppin used a 5-0 run to go up 13-9 with kills by Paola Caten and Salma Gonzalez.
- Maryland Eastern Shore used a 5-0 run of its own to turn a three-point deficit into a 20-18 lead and force a CSU timeout.
- After trading points, the Eagles scored four-straight and closed the set at 25-23 with kills from Gonzalez and Caten.
- The second set featured a flurry of runs by both teams early on but after falling behind, 13-12, Coppin scored six-straight, sparked by a pair of kills by Christa Johnson and never looked back to win 25-18.
- No team led by more than two points in the final set but CSU clinched the win at 27-25 and the match with three-straight points with a UMES service error on a Hawks set point attempt, followed by an ace from Caten and a kill by Brianna Lang.
Inside the Numbers
- Salma Gonzalez led Coppin with 11 kills with just two errors to hit .409 on a team-high 22 swings.
- The Eagles featured a well-balanced attack with Miajavon Coleman adding eight kills, Christa Johnson with seven, Jordan Celestine with six and Paola Caten with four.
- While recording 33 assists, Brianna Lang also got involved on the attack with five kills to go with a team-high two blocks.
- Defensively, Ashley Roman led Coppin with 17 digs while Caten added seven and both Coleman and Asia Stennis finished with six.
- The Eagles' 12 wins match last year's win total and the eight MEAC victories matches a school-record (2013).
Up Next: Coppin heads to the MEAC Tournament next weekend and will face North Carolina Central on Friday, November 22 at 11 am in the First Round. The NCCU Eagles are the No. 2 seed in the South and defeated CSU in five sets earlier this season.
