How It Happened

First Quarter
  • Coppin State did an excellent job of shutting down the Aggies offense as Burroughs' crew held NC A&T to 2 points over the first six minutes of play, 7-2 CSU.
  • The final four minutes of the first quarter saw North Carolina A&T flip the script on the Lady Eagles, as the Aggies outscored Coppin 11-2 to take a 13-9 lead when the clock hit triple zeroes.
Second Quarter
  • The back-and-forth momentum shifts continued into the second, as CSU began the quarter with four straight points by Jalynda Salley and two free throws from Brooke Fields to regain the lead, 15-13.
  • The Lady Aggies and Eagles kept each other relatively close to the vest for the remainder of the first half as NC A&T outscored Coppin 12-7 to go into the break up 25-22 North Carolina A&T.
Third Quarter
  • A layup by Oluwadamilola Oloyede cut the deficit to one (25-24), but an 8-1 rally ballooned the Aggie advantage back up to 33-25.
  •  Each side was able to tally six more points on the board as the teams went into the final ten minutes with North Carolina A&T holding an eight-point cushion.
Fourth Quarter
  • Fields would sink two free throws at the 8:44 mark to bring the Eagles back within ten, 44-34 NC A&T.
  • North Carolina A&T was able to slowly salt the game away, using a 22-8 explosion to end the contest and remain undefeated in MEAC play, 66-42 Aggies.
