Lights, Camera, MEACtion! Volleyballl Travels To Norfolk State For MEAC Opener

BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State volleyball will begin conference play on Friday night as it battles the Spartans of Norfolk State. This is the first MEAC game for both schools this season, with Coppin taking the last three matches in the series and eight of the last nine overall.
 
What You Need to Know Coppin Contributors
  • Coppin as a team has the fifth best hitting percentage in the conference (.145), which is led by Coleman (.236) who is currently seventh in the MEAC.
  • Brianna Lang is averaging 8.43 assists per game coming into the match, the third best average in the MEAC.
  • Asia Stennis and Miajavon Coleman both appear on the conference leader board for kills per set, with Coleman (3.18) in seventh and Stennis (2.89) right behind in ninth.
  • Freshman Chelsie Kolibar has been a dual threat for CSU, as she leads the way in service aces (14) and digs (167).
  • Christa Johnson is first for CSU in blocks with 42 on the year. Jordan Celestine is ten off the pace with 32.

  • Norfolk State has struggled to find its groove in non-conference play, dropping its first nine matches of the year before breaking into the win column in its last contest.
  • Norfolk State has been effective from behind the service line, with the Spartans averaging 1.56 aces per set, which ranks inside the Top 60 in the nation.
  • NSU employs two setters to be on the lookout for in JUCO transfers Halley McKnight and Bojana Bolozan. McKnight is currently tenth in the country (0.57) with Bolozan holding the eighth-best mark in the MEAC (0.38). The duo transferred to Norfolk State together after spending the last two seasons at Odessa College in Texas, racking up accolades for the Wranglers.
