CATONSVILLE, Md. – Corey Treyes recorded a pair of RBI extra-base hits but it was not enough as the Coppin State baseball team fell at UMBC, 7-2, on Wednesday night at Alumni Field.  The Eagles now stand at 13-17-1 on the season.

Treyes finishing the evening 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs but those runs were the only two CSU scored on the night.
Nazier McIlwain also had a two-hit game while
Caleb Duhay and
Marcos Castillo also had base hits.

A sophomore from West Covina, Calif, Treyes gave Coppin the lead in the second with an RBI double to score Castillo who doubled earlier in the frame.  The lead was short-lived, however, as the Retrievers went off for four runs in their half of the inning against starting pitcher
Quinn Gleed.

The score remained a 4-1 ballgame until Treyes slashed a triple down the right field line in the fourth, scoring McIlwain all of the way from first.

Gleed threw a 1-2-3 fourth inning to end his day but UMBC tacked on three runs in the sixth off
Delvin McFadden to extend the lead to 7-2.
Bradley Tuttle struck out the side in the eighth and
Anthony Martinez pitched a scoreless eighth but CSU was unable to produce enough offense to get back into the game.

On Deck: The Eagles return to action on April 21-22 when they host Norfolk State in a pivotal three-game MEAC series.  Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 pm followed by 12 pm single game on Sunday.
