NORFOLK, Va. – The Coppin State women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision at MEAC rival Norfolk State on Monday afternoon at NSU Tennis Complex.
Norfolk earned victories at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to earn the doubles point while the top Eagles duo of
Brittanie Cahua and
Tinashe Gwaze were behind, 5-2, at the time of the Spartans clinching the point going into singles play.
Ajla Hrnjic and
Precious Udofe were defeated, 6-2, in the second position.
With a 1-0 lead, the Spartans recorded singles wins in the first, third and sixth slots to get the necessary four points to win. In the second position, Cahua fell in the first set, 6-1 but was trailing by just a 3-2 margin in the second before NSU clinched the victory.
CSU closes out the regular season when it hosts MEAC rival Delaware State on Wednesday, April 18 at 12 pm.
