Women's Basketball Outmatched In Loss To Mississippi State

Starkville, Miss. – Chance Graham recorded her third double-double of the season (16 points, 10 rebounds), as the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Eagles 110-38.

How It Happened
 
First Quarter
  • The Lady Bulldogs went on a tear from the jump, scoring 18 unanswered points over the first 4:36, before a pair of Tsahai Corbie free throws got Coppin on the scoreboard, 18-2.
  • CSU had a 4-0 run to make the score 32-6 but Mississippi State was able to take a 41-6 lead into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
  • Corbie would start the scoring for the Lady Eagles, knocking down a three-pointer at the 8:18 mark, 46-9.
  • Brooke Fields (3) and Oluwadamilola Oloyede (2) pitched in some scores as Coppin trailed at the half, 64-16.
Third Quarter
  • Graham contributed five points, Fields had two, and Maraiyah Smith had a smooth jumper from inside the paint to make up the production in the third, 89-25.
Fourth Quarter
  • The fourth quarter saw the highest point total of the afternoon for the Lady Eagles and the lowest for Mississippi State, ending the game on a 9-5 run, and holding the Bulldogs to 21 points over the final frame, 110-38.

  • In addition to her double-double, Graham set a career-high with four blocks, as well as a season-high for steals (4).
  • Corbie tied her season-high with seven points and had a season-high three rebounds in the process.
  • Fields pulled down a season-high four rebounds to go along with her season-high in steals (2).

  • Chance Graham led the team in points (16), with Brooke Fields (9), Tsahai Corbie (7), Maraiyah Smith (4), and Oluwadamilola Oloyede (2) all knocking down at least one shot in the contest.
  • MSU had seven players reach the double-digit point threshold, with SEC Player of the Week Teaira McCowan tops among them with 23 points.
  • Six Bulldogs had two steals each, McCowan and Jessika Carter both swatted five blocks, and six players had three assists or more, including seven from Jordan Danberry.
 
Who's Next?
  • The women's basketball team will get the next two weeks off to recoup, before embarking on a December 1-2 weekend road trip to Huntington and Charlottesville to face Marshall and Virginia in back-to-back contests.
