Coppin Set To Battle Fairleigh Dickinson And Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Eagles will look for its first win in five tries against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Halloween before returning to the MEAC to face its East Side rival, Morgan State on Sunday afternoon.

Miajavon Coleman is making waves in her first season of collegiate ball, as she is 60th in the country in total kills (339), which currently places her tied for fifth in school history for a single season.
Coleman is on pace to have one of the best offensive freshman seasons in program history as she is currently on track to finish inside the top five for kills per set (3.53), total points (363) and attack attempts (871) to go along with total kills.
Brianna Lang joins Coleman in record-breaking freshman campaigns, as she is third at-the-moment in total assists in a season with (834), had a single-game Coppin State record 64 assists against North Carolina Central and she has already broken the record for most assists as a freshman.
Lang has become the first Lady Eagle volleyball player to accumulate 800 assists and 200 digs in an individual season.
Middle hitter Christa Johnson is heading for a place inside the top three in blocks for a season, as she has 73 blocks presently with four games and possibly the MEAC Tournament still to go. Johnson needs eight more to move into third place among the all-time CSU block leaders.
Asia Stennis is 7th all-time amongst Eagles players with 619 kills in her career.
Freshman libero Chelsie Kolibar sits 17 digs shy of the Coppin top ten in digs for a season as she has piled up 274 through October 30^.

Scouting the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights

FDU has been in a losing rut, dropping its previous 14 contests, and has not tasted victory since a 3-2 win over Delaware State on September 15.
The strength of this Knights team is its ability to reject the opponents' attacks. The team is third in the NEC with 1.97 blocks per set with Dickinson's top shot blocker being 6-1 freshman Brooke Stevens (0.91 per set).
Erika Sullivan is the focal point for Fairleigh Dickinson's attack, pacing the squad with 2.39 kills per set and the team's top setter is Corina Beimers at 4.88 assists per set.
Jaelyn Young fronts the defensive end, hitting 3.25 digs per set.

Scouting the Morgan State Bears

Morgan has hovered around the .500 mark all season long as it comes into this weekend's tilt at 12-12 and 4-3 in the MEAC.
If the Morgan State volleyball team played poker, it would win a lot of money, as the Lady Bears specialize in aces. MSU is inside the top 25 teams in the NCAA serving up 1.66 aces per set and 144 for the season.
Zoe McBride and Roi Wallace are two of the most dangerous servers in the country, as both players average 0.41 service aces per set.
The Bears are a top-tier team in the conference statistically, as it resides inside the top five in every major category, with its .212 hitting percentage tops in the league.
The MEAC leaderboards are littered with Morgan players as six different Bears rank somewhere inside the top ten.
Wallace is the MEAC's best setter as she's averaged 10.21 assists per set.
McBride is most frequently spotted among the MEAC leaders, placing in the top seven in service aces per set (0.41), points per set (3.83), and kills per set (3.22).
Kalysia Bates also, appears on three separate leader boards, with 3.35 points per set, 0.92 blocks per set, and a .276 hitting percentage.
Monette Daniels and Jasmin Hubbard make the cut for hitting percentage (.236) and digs per set (3.73), respectively, while Cristen Coryatt thrives in kills per set (3.49) and points per set (3.89).
