Baltimore, MD – First year head coach
Tim Walsh and the 2017 CSU Volleyball team kick off the 2017 season today at the Crosstown Invitational Tournament hosted by Lehigh University. The Lady Eagles will face Radford University today, Marist College and Lehigh on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles return eight members from last year's squad. Coppin State was voted to finish sixth in the MEAC Northern Division for 2017 and looks to improve upon the two win total from last year. Senior
Glorines Rosado returns this year after leading the team last year in digs and finishing fourth in the conference in that category after averaging 3.75 per game. As a unit, the Lady Eagles also finished fourth in the conference digs category by averaging 13.32 per game. Standout sophomore
Dominique Madarang looks continue to her presence as a leader on squad. Last season Madarang finished 8th in the conference in assists while averaging 7.03 per game.
Also returning this year are seniors
Valiyah Barnes (middle),
Bailee Jackson (right side), and
Jennifer Gell (defensive specialist). The lone junior on the team this year is
Marlena Guice who is an outside hitter. Setter
Angel Jamerson and outside hitter
Asia Stennis return for their sophomore campaign, while freshmen middle hitter,
Elanna Nellis (Nashville, TN), looks to make an immediate impact as she begins her collegiate career.
