ORMOND, Fla. – Coppin State softball was shutout 6-0, by Florida A&M University in the first game of the MEAC Softball Tournament on Thursday, May 11
th at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
Coppin State returned to the MEAC Softball Championships after missing the tournament the last two seasons. The Eagles entered as the No. 4 seed in the north and took on the No. 1 seed in the south Florida A&M.

Camille Ochoa had the first hit for Coppin State in the sixth inning with a single up the middle. Freshman
Cloe' Ochoa led off the seventh inning with a single down the right field line. Florida A&M came up with nine hits scoring six total runs advancing in the winners bracket and sending Coppin State to the losers bracket.
The Rattlers scored two runs in the first inning and four in the fifth inning to down the Eagles in game one of the MEAC Softball Championships.
Sophomore starting pitcher for Coppin State
Madison Didion struck out three batters while walking one at the plate in 6.0 innings. FAMU's pitcher Kenya Pereira surrendered two hits striking out six Eagles. Jamesia Stoudemire and Tashayla Irvis both had two hits each with Alexis Day bringing in three RBI.
Coppin State will play the loser of the Delaware State versus NC A&T game at 4:30 p.m.
