WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore
Cayla Brown recorded her third home run of the season lifting Coppin State to an 8-3 victory in game one of the doubleheader at Howard University on Saturday, April 8
th at the National Youth Academy.
Coppin State improves to 4-30, 2-6 while Howard falls to 1-23 and 1-7 in the MEAC.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead over the Bison in the third inning. Narvaez walked and went to third on a single to center field by freshman
Cloe' Ochoa. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch with Narvaez scoring. Then Brown grounded out for an RBI scoring Ochoa for the final run of the inning.
Two more runs were added on in the fourth inning for Coppin State. Freshman
Patricia Soria led the inning off reaching on an error by the Howard infield. Freshman
Kimberly Evans singled to left field and then stole second base followed by an RBI single center field by sophomore
Dakota Gartrell scoring Soria. Narvaez scored Evans on a fielder's choice giving the Eagles a 4-0 advantage.
In the seventh inning CSU exploded for four hits on four runs. Brown hit a solo home run to left field for the third time this season. Sophomore
Nicole Ullman ten singled to left field and advanced to second as Soria was hit by pitch. The bases were loaded after freshman
Haley Bravo reaching on an error by Howard with Ullman scoring a run (6-0). Junior
Camille Ochoa singled to left field in the next at bat for 2-RBI scoring both Soria and Bravo.
Howard avoided the shutout with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the seventh. Coppin State's defense held on for a game one win 8-3 over Howard.
Sophomore pitcher
Madison Didion (4-15) went 6.1 innings striking out four and walking two. Brown led the Eagles with two hits, two RBI and a home run.
Camille Ochoa followed with two RBI and Soria scored a pair of runs.
In game two of the doubleheader, Howard held Coppin State to only to hits while having seven of their own in an 11-1 win. The Bison scored one run in the first inning, six in the second inning and four runs in the fifth inning.
In the third inning, Narvaez doubled down the left field line and then scored on a fielder's choice RBI by Ullman. The Eagles second hit came on the fourth inning with
Camille Ochoa singling to third base.

Dakota Gartrell went 1.2 innings followed by relief pitcher freshman
Shelby Spaziani tossing 2.1 innings.
The teams will return for a single game to close out the weekend MEAC series on Sunday, April 9
th at the Nationals Youth Academy at noon.
