ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Coppin State baseball team battled Navy in an 11-3 road loss on Wednesday, April 5
th at the Max Bishop Stadium.
 
Coppin State drops to 5-18 overall record and Navy moves to 19-12.
 
At the plate, CSU was led by sophomore 
Jamar Criss' two hits with an RBI. Navy got off to a strong start with six runs in the first inning, one in the fourth inning, two in the sixth and two in the seventh inning for an 11-3 win. The Shipmen finished with 15 hits compared to six by the Eagles.
 
Coppin State scored their three runs in the fifth inning on two hits. Freshman 
Cole Gerula led the inning off with a walk and then 
Liam Bloom had his first double of the season with a shot down the right field line advancing Gerula to third. Next, Gerula scored on a wild pitch and then sophomore 
Nazier McIlwain scored Bloom on a ground out. Then, senior 
Bryant Miranda was also walked and then scored on a single to right field by sophomore 
Jamar Criss.
 
Other Eagle highlights came in the fourth inning with freshman 
Anthony Martinez recording his first hit of the season with a double base hit down the right field line. Criss had his second hit with a single to shortstop in the seventh inning then freshman 
Corey Treyes followed singling to right field. McIlwain singled to third base in the ninth inning concluding the Eagles mid-week matchup against Navy.
 
Starting pitcher sophomore 
Devin Rivera Ozuna (0-1) struck out two batters and walked three. Freshman 
Joshua Hancock went 3.0 innings, junior 
Caleb Duhay tossed 1.0 inning and Treyes pitched the ninth inning striking out a batter.
 
The Eagles will host Maryland Eastern Shore in a three game weekend series at Joe Cannon Stadium on Saturday, April 8
th in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and a single game slated for 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 9
th.
