PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Sophomore infielder
Megan Narvaez finished with a career-high three hits including a double in the final game of the weekend series against Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday, March 26
th at Hawks Field.
The Hawks edged the Eagles 1-0 to win the conference weekend series.
Coppin State drops to 3-20 overall record with a 1-2 MEAC record. Maryland Eastern Shore moves to 8-13 record with a 2-3 conference record. Both teams finished with six hits each but a crucial fielding error by CSU led to the game winning run by the Hawks.
Maryland Eastern Shore came up with the game winning run in the fifth inning. An error by the Eagles defense allowed the runner to reach base leading off the inning. Then a single advanced the runner to second base. Later, the runner stole third and then scored on a sacrifice fly out to center field for the 1-0 lead.
Narvaez led the Eagles with three hits tying a career-high performance. In the third inning she singled to center field, singled up the middle in the fifth inning and doubled to right center field in the seventh inning.
Sophomore
Cayla Brown singled to center field in the first inning and singled up the middle in the sixth inning for her two hits and junior outfielder
Camille Ochoa had her first hit of the season in the fourth inning singling to the shortstop.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, March 28
th with a double header scheduled against Mount St. Mary's beginning at 2 p.m.
