HARRISONBURG, Va. – Coppin State suffered a double header road loss to James Madison University on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Eagle Field at Vet Memorial Park.
The Eagles fall to a 1-10 record and James Madison improves to 11-3. Coppin State's offense was paced by junior
Andres Santana recording hits in both games along with sophomore
Jamar Criss in game two leading the way with an RBI double.
In game one, the Dukes led 11-0 before the Eagles scored two runs in the fifth inning. Coppin State finished with five hits and combined to strike out six. Freshman
Joshua Hancock made his first start of the season and pitched two innings striking out three batters and walked four. Sophomore

Delvin McFadden pitched in relief for the Eagles.

Brett Helmbrecht had the Eagles first hit of the afternoon singling up the middle. CSU has a pair of hits in the fourth inning with freshman
Isaiah Wilson singling to third followed by freshman
Corey Treyes' single to left field. Treyes has a current four game hit streak for the Eagles at the plate.
In the fifth inning the Eagles put together two hits leading to a pair of runs with Santana reaching on a fielder's choice and then stole his sixth base of the season advancing to second base. Next, Miranda RBI doubled to center field scoring Santana and then was brought home by a double to center field by sophomore Nazier McIlwain.
James Madison went on to score four runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth inning winning, 16-2.
In game two, Santana got the Eagles going with single through the left side in the first inning and then stole second for a team-high eighth of the season. Sophomore
Jamar Criss had his first hit if the game in the fourth inning singling to center field. Junior
Caleb Duhay singled through the right side in the eighth inning, but no runs were scored for Coppin State through those innings.
The Eagles ended the non-conference dual with James Madison hammering a pair of hits in the ninth inning trailing, 12-0. Miranda singled to third base with two outs and then crossed home plate for the lone CSU score on an RBI double to right field by Criss.
Coppin State combined for ten hits in the double header and used another trio of pitchers in the second game. Freshman
Quinn Gleed (1-2) went 4.2 innings striking out a team-high three batters and walked none. Freshman
Jacob Lewis made an appearance going 2.1 innings and striking out one and then Bonanca closed the game pitching the eighth inning.

th at 3 p.m.
