Baltimore, MD - Coppin State Volleyball (1-20, 1-3) fell to Maryland Eastern Shore in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Northern Division matchup today, 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 13-25). The Lady Eagles were led by
Asia Stennis with 7 kills and and
Dominique Madarang with 14 assists.
The first set saw nine tie scores and Coppin having it's final lead at 14-13 after a
Valiyah Barnes kills from Madarang. The Hawks (17-6, 4-0) would dominate the remainder of the set outscoring the Lady Eagles 12-2. Coppin would fair slightly better in the second set maintaining a lead through the first half of the match. With leads of 7-4, 9-5, and 12-10, Coppin was not able to distance themselves from Maryland Eastern Shore. Again, the Hawks outscored the Lady Eagles 15-5 to wrap up the second set. The third set saw the Hawks takeoff with a 17-5 lead before Coppin scratched it's way into double digits.
Glorines Rosado and
Angel Jamerson would muster service aces while
Christa Johnson and
Marlena Guice added a kill from Jamerson to get Coppin to a 13-25 score.
The Lady Eagles will return to action October 18 to face Delaware State at 7pm and then on Friday, October 20, against Morgan State at 7pm, have their dig Dig Tish game to help volleyball alumna Letica Madry fright stage 2 breast cancer.
