Cheerleaders host camp and coaches clinic

Baltimore, MD - Coppin State University cheerleaders hosted the Diamond Sports Cheer Camp and Coaches Clinic in the Physical Education Complex (PEC) on Saturday, April 23rd with special guests from members of the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders and Baltimore City Council President Bernard 'Jack' Young.  Coppin State's head cheerleading coach Shandria Proctor provided thirty coaches various training tips and experiences to assist in their coaching techniques.

"Today was a great day and success," said Proctor.  "The response from the community was unbelievable. Diamond Sports and the Coppin Cheerleaders did a wonderful job teaching the kids, keeping them excited, and providing an unbelievable experience. 92Q also provided time for a live interview.  It was a great day!"

Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders Danielle, Keishawna, Amanda R. And Amber Lynn surprised the 200 registrants ages 7-14, by stopping in to teach the young ladies authentic Raven cheers.

Coppin cheerleaders along with Diamond Sports Cheer staff broke the participants into groups to practice tumbling, stunts, various cheers, and cheer techniques.  The event went from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Baltimore City Council President Bernard 'Jack' Young provided the lunches for all the participants and spoke with the group as well.

"All in all, today allowed our [Coppin] Cheerleaders to engage the community, promote Coppin spirit, and simply have fun," said Proctor.
