BALTIMORE- Four Eagles scored in double figures as the Coppin State men's basketball dropped a 74-72, overtime thriller to the Morgan State Bears Saturday evening in PEC Arena.
The game featured nine lead changes and four ties. Neither team lead by double digits, with Coppin State (7-21, 5-10) holding the biggest lead of nine early in the first half.
The Eagles honored lone senior
Lawrence Fejokwu before tipoff. Fejokwu scored four points and four rebounds while knocking down both of his field goal attempts in his last game in the Physical Education Complex.
Terry Harris Jr., nearly collected a double double as he finished with a game high 20 points and nine rebounds. He added an assist and a block in 38 minutes of game action.
Joshua Treadwell netted 17 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point land. Treadwell also dished out a career best six assists in 43 minutes.
Christian Kessee added three more 3-pointers for the Eagles, as he tallied 11 points. He chipped in four rebounds and four assists on a team high 44 minutes.
Keith Shivers returned to action after missing four games with an injury to score 12 points. Shiver shot 6-of-11 accuracy from the field and added three rebounds in 34 minutes.
Blake Simpson tied a team high with nine rebounds. He chipped in four points, a team best two steals and a block in 32 minutes on the floor. Simpson did not miss a shot against Morgan State.
Coppin State outscored Morgan State in paint points 40-32.
The Eagles also scored 11 points and collected four steals on 13 Morgan State turnovers.
Andre Horne led Morgan State (8-20, 6-9) with 19 points. Rasean Simpson added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears.
Coppin State will conclude its regular season with a trip to Dover, DE for a matchup with the Delaware State Hornets on Thursday March 3. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall Gym.
