BALTIMORE- The Coppin State Lady Eagles had four players score in double figures in their 68-64 win over the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) first place Hampton Lady Pirates on Saturday February 20 in PEC Arena.

Coppin State (10-15, 7-6) was down by as many as 15 before foraging a ferocious fourth quarter comeback.

The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Pirates 23-14 in the final quarter, highlighted by an 11-0 run.

Senior
Amber Griffin scored eight points while knocking down four straight jump shots during the Coppin State fourth quarter surge.
Â
Griffin finished the game with 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. She added three rebounds, two assists and three steals in 36 minutes of game action.

Jordan Swails scored 17 points off the bench for the Lady Eagles. Swails added five rebounds, three steals and an assist in 32 minutes on the floor.

She sunk seven of her nine foul shots.

Genesis Lucas led Coppin State with a game high six assists. Lucas tallied 11 points, a team best four steals and three rebounds in 37 minutes.

She nailed a game best eight free throws including four down the stretch to help seal the game for the Lady Eagles.

Keena Samuels chipped in 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting form the floor. She added three steals and two rebounds in 32 minutes.

Omaah Tayong led Coppin State with 11 rebounds. She recorded four points, a steal and a game high three blocks. Tayong made both of her foul shots.

Coppin State racked up 15 steals off 24 Hampton turnovers leading to 20 points for the Lady Eagles.

Coppin State won the battle of the benches, 20-9.

Kaylah Lupoe led the Hampton Lady Pirates (11-14, 9-3) with 25 points and six rebounds. Malia Tate-DeFreitas added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Coppin State will return to action Monday February 22 when the travel to Norfolk, VA to take the Norfolk State Lady Spartans. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. in the Joseph G. Echols Hall.Â
