BALTIMORE- The Coppin State Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) home games with a 63-46 win over the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles Thursday night in PEC Arena.

Three players scored in double figures for the Coppin State Lady Eagles (9-15, 6-6)

Amber Griffin led the Lady Eagles with 12 points. She added four rebounds, an assist and a steal in 33 minutes of game action.

Senior
Jordan Swails tallied 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Coppin State. Swails chipped in four assists, three steals and a block in 31 minutes.

Keena Samuels scored 10 points and dished out four assists for the Lady Eagles. She added two steals and one rebound on a perfect 2-of-2 from the foul line. She played 33 minutes.

Genesis Lucas recorded a career best 10 assists. She chipped in nine points, five rebounds and a steal.

Omaah Tayong also finished with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. She added two blocks and one steal in 23 minutes on the floor.

Janelle Lane led the Lady Eagles with eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Lane scored six points, blocked two shots and racked up three steal in 17 minutes of court time.

North Carolina Central outrebounded Coppin State 51-42, while Coppin State knocked one more 3-point field goal than North Carolina Central.

The Coppin State Lady Eagles dominated NCCU in the paint 34-18 while scoring 30 points on 28 Lady Eagle turnovers. Coppin State recorded 13 steals in the game.

Coppin State pulled away from North Carolina Central with a 13-0 fourth quarter, lead by five points from
Jordan Swails.

During the run Coppin State enjoyed its largest lead of the game, going ahead by 18 points.

Tisha Dixon led North Carolina Central (4-19, 2-10) with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Rodneysha Martin added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Eagles.

Coppin State will return to action Saturday February 20 for a matchup against the Hampton Lady Pirates. Tipoff is at 2:00 pm in the Physical Education Complex.Â
This will be Breast Cancer Awareness Game as the Lady Eagles will wear pink uniforms to honor former player Jennifer Martin.Â
