Career Night for Lane leads Lady Eagles past Delaware State

Box Score BALTIMORE- Senior forward Janelle Lane scored a career best 23 points in the Coppin State Lady Eagles 84-79 win over Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent, the Delaware State Lady Hornets Monday night February 15 in PEC Arena.
 
Lane added nine rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block in 34 minutes of game action. She tied a Lady Eagles season high with nine made field goals, while scoring 16 of her 23 points in the first half.
 
Lane also knocked down five of her six foul shots.
 
The Coppin State Lady Eagles (8-15, 5-6) are now 4-1 in MEAC home games.
 
Jordan Swails notched her third double double of the season finishing the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She has six double doubles in her career.
 
Swails chipped in a team best four steals and two assists of 4-of-9 shooting from the field while tying her career high with eight made free throws.
 
Tanaysa Henderson tallied 11 points of the bench for the Lady Eagles. Henderson shot 4-of-6 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. She made all the Coppin State 3-pointers in the game.
 
Senior Omaah Tayong led the Lady Eagles with 13 rebounds. Tayong added eight points and a block in 19 minutes.
 
Genesis Lucas tied a career best with eight assists. Lucas scored nine points, grabbed two rebound and recorded three steals, while going a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
 
Amber Griffin had eight points, four rebounds, and three assists in 33 minutes.
 
Griffin and Lucas sunk their final four free throws to help seal the game for the Eagles.
 
Coppin State won the battle of the boards 53-47 while outscoring Delaware State 32-22 in paint points and 27-6 in points off the bench.
 
Najai Pollard led he Delaware State Lady Hornets (7-17, 4-7) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Aaliyah Davis added 20 points and eight rebounds for Delaware State.
 
The Coppin State Lady Eagles will continue its home stand with a matchup against North Carolina Central on Thursday February 18. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. in the Physical Education Complex.
 
This game will be Greek Appreciation Night.
