Coppin State concludes non-conference play on Saturday (1:00 p.m. ET) at UMBC marking their 22nd contest in the all-time series between the programs. The Eagles have an 0-11 record which is the worst start to a season in program history.
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC (4-8) won their last game versus Liberty (62-51) at home on Thursday. Four Retrievers are averaging double-digit points led by Taylor McCarley (12.9 ppg). Tyler Moore (10.8 ppg), Laura Castaldo (10.4 ppg) anf Pandora Wilson (10.2 ppg) are the other top scorers. UMBC are 1-5 at home this year inside the REC Center.
NEAL RECORDS CAREER-HIGH 18 POINTS AT UNC

Vanessa Neal finished with a career-high 18 points and four assists against the Tar Heels in a 90-55 loss on Wednesday. She made a career-best seven field goals including a pair of three-pointers recording the third highest scoring performance for an Eagle this season. Neal paced Coppin State with 12 points in the fourth quarter knocking down 4-of-5 attempts from the field. She also nailed a pair of three-pointers playing the entire quarter. The Eagles outscored UNC 20-15 in the fourth quarter.
LUCAS SPARKS BENCH EFFORT AT TAR HEELS

Genesis Lucas returned to action after suffering a mid-season injury and led the CSU bench with 16 points at North Carolina on Wednesday. Lucas tied her career-high with three made three-pointers and also dished out four assists. She led the first quarter scoring with eight at UNC.
EAGLES FALL TO EAST TENNESSEE STATE
Coppin State finished with their second highest scoring total of the season and had their top rebounding (47) and field goal attempts (70) games against Tennessee State falling, 70-58. Three Eagles starters scored in double-digits led by graduate
Tiara Goode's 18 points. Goode made seven field goals including two three-pointers. She added eight rebounds, an assist, block and steal. Senior
Keena Samuels had 14 points finishing with five made field goals and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Samuels dished out a team-high three assist, had two rebounds and a steal. Graduate

Coppin State will open up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play at home against South Carolina State on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles lead the all-time series against the Bulldogs 40-25 including an 81-62 victory in the semifinal round of last year's MEAC Basketball Tournament on March 11, 2016. The last time both teams met in the Physical Education Complex, SCSU won 68-58 on February 7, 2015.
