TOWSON, Md. – The Eagles set a pair of all-time three-point records in a 69-65 loss at Towson on Saturday, December 3

Tiara Goode made eight three-pointers and the Eagles as a team made 11 in their strongest game of the year.
Coppin State led for three quarters against Towson with accurate shooting from the field. Goode came off the Eagles bench and made 8-of-11 three-pointers setting a new Coppin State single-game record. Natasha Parks previously held the record for the Eagles with seven three-pointers back on Feb. 2, 1996. Coppin State as a team went 11-for-20 from downtown eclipsing the previous school record held by the 1999-00 team that made ten three-pointers versus Florida A&M.
The Eagles scored a season-high 65 points, made 11 three-pointers on 20 attempts, converted on 20-of-29 free-throws, 15 assists, and 13 steals in their sixth road game of the year. Goode netted a team season-high 28 points making a total of nine shots from the field. Senior
Keena Samuels tied her season-high with 18 points making 6-of-7 free-throws. Red shirt junior
Genesis Lucas went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and had five assists.
Coppin State took an 18-16 lead in the beginning of the second quarter and held on until the fourth period. Goode made her second three-pointer of the game putting the Eagles ahead of the Tigers at the moment. Goode kept on shooting from behind the arc and forced a Towson timeout as Eagles led 22-16.
The Eagles bench led by Goode outscored the Tigers in the first half 16-6. Goode made 4-of-5 three-pointers igniting the Eagles scoring. Samuels was aggressive in the half going to the line and converting on 6-of-7 free throws. She led the starters with 13 points in the half and Lucas dished out four assists and scored four points.
Towson was forced into 13 turnovers and only had six free-throw attempts. Coppin State scored 15 first half points off of turnovers and led 36-25 at the half.
Neal gave the Eagles life in the third quarter with seven points. She made a pair of field goals to go along with a pair of free-throws. The Tigers were outscored 21-9 in the second quarter and battled back by holding a 20-15 edge in the third quarter. The Eagles still went into the final quarter with a six point lead 51-45.
Towson brought the deficit to two (51-49) in the opening moments of the quarter. The score was tied at 51-51 with 8:10 left in the game. Coppin State surrendered their lead with 3:23 remaining in regulation as Towson dominated the final minutes with free-throws. The Eagles were held to 14 fourth quarter points and six turnovers. Towson excelled with 11-of-14 made free-throws and 24 quarter points escaping with a 69-65 win over the Eagles.
Towson was led by Sianna Martin's 23 points. Raine Bankston had 14 points and Raven Bankston added 16 points.
The Eagles head to #21 Syracuse on Wednesday, Dec. 7
th for an 11 a.m. matchup with the Orange in their next game.
