Joshua Treadwell's 17 points in a 96-44 loss to Georgetown on Wednesday, Nov. 30
th in the Verizon Center.
Joshua Treadwell scored 14 second half points on 6-of-10 made shots from the field. Junior
Tre' Thomas led the Eagles bench scoring with 16 points hitting five three-pointers. He was Coppin State's top scorer at the half with ten points. Junior
Blake Simpson grabbed six rebounds and freshman
Dejuan Clayton had a team-high four assists. Defensively, the Eagles blocked a season-best five shots.
The Hoyas controlled the first half of action against the Eagles shooting 50% from the field off of 22 made shots. Georgetown made nine three-pointers and outrebounded Coppin State 33-14 in the first twenty minutes.
Coppin State trailed 40-10 with 8:10 remaining in the half before Thomas hit three consecutive shots from long range igniting the Eagles. His jumpers cut the deficit to 45-19 with 5:58 remaining highlighting the Eagles first half scoring. The Hoyas carried a 61-20 advantage into halftime.
Treadwell came out of halftime with 11 straight points for the Eagles. He finished with 14 points in the half and made the Eagles only free-throw attempt. The Hoyas offense continued to roll matching their 50% field goal percentage and also breaking out to a 58 point lead with two minutes left in regulation. Thomas added a pair of three-pointers in the final half as the Eagles suffered their ninth loss of the season, 96-54.
The Eagles will continue their four game road trip and will kick the month of December against Clemson on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. The Tigers lead the all-time series with the Eagles 2-0. The teams last met on Nov. 21, 2005 in Clemson where the Tigers won 102-71.
