ARLINGTON, Va. – Coppin State freshman
Lance Montano had two hits, including a RBI double during an 11-2 defeat to George Washington at Bancroft Park Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball game.
For Montano, it was his third multi-hit performance of the season. He had two hits in a game earlier this season against Wofford and Jacksonville. He has at least one hit in four of Coppin State's last five games. During Saturday's loss to Delaware State, Montano recorded the Eagles first hit of the contest with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Also recording hits for Coppin State were
Colin Dower,
Jeffrey Fitch, Bobby Dragon and
Darien Percell. Fitch's hit was a one-out double in the first inning. Dower, who singled with one out, scored on a wild-pitch in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1. Dragon has a team-best 43 hits on the season.
Jesse Kraft was strong in delivering four strong one-run innings. Kraft allowed three hits. His effort helped Coppin State battle first-place George Washington tough for much of the game. The Colonials lead the Atlantic-10 Conference.
Coppin State (3-35-2 overall) finishes its 2015 season with a weekend series at Norfolk State. The Eagles and Spartans will play a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
