HAMPTON, Va. – The Coppin State women's basketball team dropped a 69-44 decision to Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match-up Monday evening at the HU Convocation Center.

Genesis Lucas led the Eagles (5-20 overall, 4-10 MEAC) in scoring with 19 points. She shot 50 percent from the floor (6-for-12), 83.3 percent at the foul line (5-of-6) and was perfect from beyond the arc.
Lucas was named MEAC Rookie of the Week earlier today due to her impressive performance last week. Since entering the starting lineup on Jan. 19, she averages 13.8 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per contest. Lucas has recorded double figures 11 times and has led Coppin State in scoring six times this season.

Tanaysa Henderson had seven points and grabbed six rebounds.
The Eagles limited the MEAC's top-ranked Pirates (15-11, 11-1) to shooting 30.4 percent from the field, its third lowest shooting total since beginning conference play. Coppin State stunted Hampton from three-point range, where it shot 29.2 percent (7-for-24).
In its last two games, Coppin State has held its opponents below 34 percent shooting.
The Eagles visit cross-town rival Morgan State Monday afternoon for their last road game of the season.
