BALTIMORE- The Coppin State women's basketball team dropped a 54-69 decision to Auburn University Saturday afternoon at Towson's SECU Arena.

Senior
Janelle Lane led Coppin State with 13 points, six rebounds, including five offensive, two assists and three steals. She leads the Eagles with nine blocks on the season.

Lane has scored in double figures six times this year.

Guard
Amber Griffin finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes of action. She scored eight of her 12 points in the first half on 3-of-6 shooting accuracy from the field.

Griffin has nine games of two or more assists those this season.

Genesis Lucas scored nine points and added three assists and three steals. Lucas also played a team high 39 minutes. She went a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line as well.

Lucas has 17 steals through eight games played so far this year.

Seniors
Jordan Swails and
Omaah Tayong both poured in seven points apiece.

Swails filled of the stat book adding six rebounds, a team high five assists, one block and one steal in 31 minutes. She has collected three or more rebounds in every game this season.

Swails leads Coppin State with 20 steals on the season.

Omaah Tayong led the Eagles with eight rebounds and 60% shooting from the floor. She added three steals and one block. She has grabbed at least five rebounds in every game this season.

She is first amongst the Eagles in rebounding.

Coppin State outrebounded Auburn, 38-35. CSU also finished the game with more steal, 12-11.

The Eagles also forced the Tigers into 26 turnovers, while outscoring them in points of turnovers (26-20), second chance points (17-9) and bench points (9-8).

Auburn (8-2) was led by Brandy Montgomery, who finished with 24 points and three rebounds. Tra'Cee Tanner scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Tigers.

Coppin State will return to action at the UVA Cavalier Classic December 28-29 at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA. The Eagles will face the University of Virginia (Dec. 28) at 7:00 p.m. and will take on Lafayette College (Dec. 29) at 4:30 p.m.Â
