BALTIMORE- The Coppin State women's basketball team dropped its first game of the UVA Cavalier Classic Monday night to the Virginia Cavaliers 75-40 at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA.

`The Cavaliers now lead the all-time series 4-0 over the Eagles.

Coppin State (2-9) has completed its four road games against ACC opponents.

Janelle Lane was the Lady Eagles only double-digit scorer Monday night. Lane finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks.

She now has back-to-back double figure scoring games and seven overall this season. Lane leads the Lady Eagles with 11 blocks so far this year.

Senior
Omaah Tayong came off the bench to score eight points and grab six rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. She also added one block.

Tayong has five or more rebounds in every game this season.

Genesis Lucas scored four points and a season high seven assists in the setback loss. She also added a steal in 35 minutes of game action.

Her seven assists was one shy of her career high. Lucas has now led the Lady Eagles in assists 15 times in her career.

Amber Griffin chipped in five points, three rebounds, one assist and a team best four steals in 38 minutes on play.

Jordan Swails added four points, four rebounds and two steals for the Lady Eagles.

Meanwhile, Lauren Moses led the Virginia Cavaliers with 17 points and five rebounds. Mikayla Venson finished the game with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds.

Coppin State will complete the UVA Cavalier Classic December 29 with a 4:30 p.m. matchup against Lafayette College at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA. Â
