GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coppin State women's basketball team ended its time below the Mason-Dixon Line with a 67-49 loss to North Carolina A&T Monday evening in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game.
Redshirt sophomore Genesis Lucas led Coppin State with a career-best 13 points, eight assists and three steals. It was her third straight game scoring in double digits. Janelle Lane added 10 points to the mix, her ninth time earning double figures this season. Omaah Tayong finished with eight points and four rebounds. Coppin State (3-14 overall, 2-4 MEAC) got out to a fast start in Corbett Sports Center, leading by as many as 11 points midway through the first half. N.C. A&T went on a 19-4 run to head into the locker room with a 29-25 lead.
Debbie Smith topped N.C. A&T with 12 points while Dana Brown notched 10 points and four rebounds.
The Eagles forced 23 turnovers which they converted into 22 points.
Coppin State concludes its three-game road trip by traveling towards the snow to face Maryland-Eastern Shore Saturday at 2 p.m.
