BALTIMORE -- Coppin State volleyball head coach
Ashley Preston has announced the 2013 schedule and it includes nine home matches in the Physical Education Complex and a road meeting with one of the top programs in the nation.
The Eagles play three matches against two 2012 NCAA Tournament teams and affords the team an opportunity to prepare for the conference schedule.
"I feel that we have put together a competitive non-conference schedule, which will provide development opportunities prior to the start of our conference schedule," said Preston.
Coppin State will participate in four preseason tournaments headlined by a trip to Seattle, Wash., to participate in a tournament hosted by Washington. The Huskies are ranked fifth in the AVCA preseason poll and advanced to the regional finals of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Eagles will also play in tournaments hosted by Hofstra, George Mason and UMBC.
The Eagles will open the season on Aug. 31 against Hofstra at the Hofstra Tournament.
Coppin State will face American in its home opener on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Physical Education Complex.
The Eagles will play a 12-match Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule beginning with a home match against Morgan State at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the PEC.
Coppin State will host the MEAC Tournament for the sixth consecutive year in 2013. The tournament, which will crown the conference champion, will be held Nov. 15-17 in the Physical Education Complex.
