BALTIMORE – We are continuing to get you hyped for the start of the 2014 Coppin State volleyball season by presenting "50 Eagle Facts." The Eagles begin their most-anticipated season in program history in 21 days on August 29 against New Jersey Institute of TECHNOLOGY at the La Salle University tournament. We've already unveiled facts 50-23.
We CONTINUE with our unique look ahead to the 2014 season with the fourth installment of fun facts.
22 – When Coppin State takes the court at the end of this month, it will have been 283 days, 6,801 hours, 408,060 minutes and 24,483,600 seconds since it last played a match.
21 – Freshman Maya Horner was a beast at Columbia Central High School as she finished her sterling career with 2,375 kills, 196 blocks, 1,208 digs, and 333 aces, and 1,060 service points. Horner holds the school, county and district RECORDS IN kills and digs plus the school record for kills in a set, match, season, and career. Horner was named all four years to the All-District 8-AAA team and was the most valuable player this year.
20 – The Eagles return to campus to prepare for the 2014 season in a few days. CSU will have photo day on Monday afternoon.
19 – Coppin State will host Hampton in a MEAC title game rematch on Friday, October 3. The Eagles are also partnering with Playworks earlier in that day for a community service event. More details on the specifics of the day will be coming in a couple of weeks. CSU fans definitely mark this date on your calendar.
18 – Jasmine Burton finished with 114 digs and was one of seven CSU players to finish with over 100 digs. She averaged 2.19 digs per set. Burton had double-digit digs five times including a season-high 17 against North Carolina Central on October 18.
17 – Coppin State will host the MEAC Volleyball Tournament for an eighth straight season.
16 – Coppin State's MEAC OPENER will be against crosstown foe Morgan State on Friday, September 26. The Eagles and Bear split a pair of matches that went the distance against one another last season.
