BALTIMORE – Coppin State had four players reach double figures during an 105-64 loss to Hofstra University in the Physical Education Complex Arena Wednesday night in a non-conference men's basketball game.

Junior guard
Sterling Smith paced the Eagles with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. It was the third time in his last four games scoring at least 10 or more points. Senior guard
Taariq Cephas had 11 points and a season-high five assists. Cephas, who also led Coppin State with six rebounds, has scored in double figures in every game this month.
Sophomore
Christian Kessee and freshman
Shomari Triggs scored 10 points each for the Eagles (1-8 overall). Kessee also made two of the Eagles' eight 3-pointers. He has made at least one 3-pointer in eight games this season for Coppin State.
Coppin State enjoyed a couple of early leads before Hofstra (7-2) took control with a 16-2 run during a 3:32 stretch of the first half to open an 11-point bulge.
The Pride had five players reach double figures highlighted by Ameen Tanskley's 23 points. Brian Bernardi added 20 points for the Pride, who extended their winning streak to four games. Juan'ya Green stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Malik Nichols finished with a double-double (10 points, 15 points).
Coppin State begins its next four-game road trip Sunday afternoon when it visits reigning NCAA champion Connecticut. The game begins at 4:00 p.m. at the XL Center in Hartford.
