Matt Walker

Matt Walker was promoted to Coppin State's Director of Strength and Conditioning in October 2017.  He previously held the position as CSU's assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Coach Walker came to Coppin State University from Arcadia University, where he previously was on the athletic staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach beginning in the Fall of 2014. At Arcadia,  he assisted in all facets of strength and conditioning program, including directing individual and team workouts and nutrition planning.

Walker served as a strength and conditioning coach and fitness specialist at a variety of fitness and performance centers in the greater Philadelphia area, which included a stop at Villanova University in 2013 where he worked directly with the cheerleading, softball, women's crew and track & field teams. He also served as an assistant football coach and strength and conditioning coach at Paul IV High School (Haddonfield, N.J.) from 2008-10 and Seneca High School (Tabernacle, N.J.) from 2010-12.

Walker earned his bachelor's degree in American studies/history from Wesley College in 2008, where he was a member of the football and track & field teams. Walker helped lead the football team to three consecutive conference titles (2005-07) and two NCAA Division III Regional championships (2005, 2006) as the Wolverines earned a top-five national ranking from 2005-07.

Walker became certified as a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach in 2011 and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2013. He is currently working towards earning his master's degree in human movement science through Concordia University of Chicago.
