Leaha Charles-Pierre

 Leaha Thomas begins her twelth season as an assistant coach at Coppin State after a distinquished athletic career at Alcorn State.

Thomas, who competed for four years under the direction of current CSU head coach Alecia Shields-Gadson, competed in the 400, 800, 400 hurdles, pole vault, high jump and on the Alcorn State cross country team.

She earned All-Southwestern Athletic Conference honors on six occasions including in the 800 meters during her freshman season.

During her senior season the Braves captured the SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship and she was selected as the ASU most valuable performer.

Thomas earned dean's list honors on two occasions and was the school's All-Academic Freshman of the Year.

Thomas earned her Bachelor of Science degree in health science from Alcorn State in 2000. She also holds master's degrees in sports medicine and teaching.

In addition to her duties on the track, Thomas is a science teacher at Dr. Carter G. Woodson Middle School
